Why does your Program Need the Swing Up Invert Device?

Bill Ford invented the Rick Attig SI Device with safety as his primary concern. The key safety feature is the machine's ground-level replication of a difficult and potentially dangerous phase of the pole vault .the AERIAL PHASE. A perfect runway is required to even attempt proper swing up, inversion and launch. Mistakes are costly. If vaulters replicate the movements incorrectly or inverts too soon, they are at risk for serious injury. The SI Device allows for multiple repetitions of the needed muscle movements, at a height that is just above the athlete's clearance of the safety mat. Consequently, the vaulter can practice the maneuvers required at a lower height. The SI Device's height is easily accessible for spotting by a qualified coach. This specific, hands-on guidance, physically manipulates the vaulter into each position, with precise accuracy. Therefore, decreasing the chance of injury and improving the learning curve for correct and efficient vaulting.

Rick Attig's SI Device is a great investment for any size pole vault program. By spending money on the SI Device, a coach, on a limited budget, can make a purchase for their PV program that will benefit ALL pole vaulters, IMMEDIATELY. Poles are generally the largest expenditures a pole vault coach requisitions. However, unless the coach is fortunate enough to be a part of a school district with an unlimited budget, poles are ordered infrequently and can fit only the few pole vaulters for whom they were purchased. The acquisition of the SI Device provides a training pole for every pole vaulter.

The SI Device has a short, but illustrious history. During the pilot year, 2004-05, the Rick Attig SI Device was in utilized in the following schools with noted results.

•  Grand Island High School , Grand Island , Nebraska: A senior finished as the individual Class A Champion in the Nebraska State Track Meet.

•  Grand Island Northwest High School, Grand Island, Nebraska: A senior vaulted to the individual All-Class State Championship at the Nebraska State Track Meet and tied an all-time, all-class record of 16'.

•  University of Nebraska Kearney, (UNK), at Kearney, Nebraska: A senior broke his own UNK indoor pole vaulting record four times in 2005 and set and broke his own UNK outdoor record five times his senior year. This vaulter also finished as the third-place Division II indoor All-American in Boston , MA with a jump of 16' 9 ½" on March 12, 2005 and won the outdoor Kansas Relays Meet with a jump of 17' 2 ¾", on April 22, 2005.

•  University of Nebraska at Lincoln, (UNL), at Lincoln, Nebraska: A sophomore and junior from University of Nebraska at Lincoln, were indoor All-Americans and two of the four best regular season pole vaulters who surpassed the 18-foot mark for the 2005 Division I outdoor season.
